Our history
CTI Communication Trend Italia was established in 1973 in Milan under the name CTI Centro Traduttori Interpreti. In a market that saw the emergence of the first translation agencies, CTI stood out as a supplier of technical translations and specialised interpreting, becoming one of the main partners of leading companies in the sector and some of the earliest and most important multinationals, including IBM, Xerox and Olivetti. In the 1980s, interpreting became part of a more complex and structured process with the creation of a conference department, which has overseen all services for event organization and pre/post conference activities since.
Long before our competitors, the use of technological and IT solutions to support our services has always been a company strength, a feature that has allowed us to improve the compatibility of services offered, time-to-market and the reduction of times and costs. CTI was one of the first companies to actively adopt innovative computer-assisted translation software, known as CAT tools.
In order to offer high quality services, both in translation and interpreting, outstanding linguistic skills are only the first step. These skills must then be completed by detailed knowledge of the reference sector. Which is why CTI's supply strategy has always concentrated on industry professionals with excellent language skills, such as economists, doctors and engineers, rather than linguists.
In the 1990s, CTI came up with the opportunity to offer linguists high-quality training in sectors with the greatest market demand, not only in the form of glossaries alone, but also providing in-depth training in the reference sectors led by high-profile teachers. Specialisation masters for translators and interpreters were created and organised down to the last detail in the following areas: IT and Localization, Medicine and Pharmacology, and Economics and Finance.
Today, these courses still offer a unique training opportunity in the sector at a national level. We have pursued many other initiatives to support the growing demand for training, launching customised language courses and specialist courses on various industry aspects.
In 2011, Fabrizio Hugony published the Triple A dictionary, the first and only English-Italian dictionary created especially for auditors, chartered accountants, CFOs and professional translators working in the field of economics and finance.
In 2021, the founder and long-standing CEO of CTI, Ornella Brighenti Hugony, sold the company to Triple A, a company owned by a group of partners including a large Milan-based accounting firm, accounting firms in Spain, France and China and a leading software house, with the aim of consolidating CTI's position as a language service provider in the accounting, auditing and administration market. Thanks to the support of its partners and shared network, CTI has been able to develop a one-of-a-kind technical and IT offer.
